Regular Club Night Activities
There are 5 sections in each 1 1/2 hour club night:![]()
- Opening Ceremonies (5 min.) Right after the clubbers check in we meet around the Awana square to pray, say our club motto and verse and sing the Awana theme song, as well as mention any announcements.
![]()
- Games Time (25 min.) Here the kids are divided into 4 teams and we play special high energy fun games designed to be played around the Awana square.
- Handbook Time (30 min.) - During this portion
of the club night the clubbers meet with their leaders to work through their handbooks (which include memory work as well as practical home assignments like cleaning your room for an entire week without having to be told!).
![]()
- Council Time (25 min.) - Is a time of singing and also Bible stories and lessons which focus on teaching the clubbers how to apply the truths of Scripture to their lives.
- Closing Award Time (5 min.)
It is during this portion of the night where clubbers are given their achievment awards (crowns, jewels, badges and seals) as well as the game time team winners are given their treat. Those children who complete a major section in their books (a jewel or a discovery) also have the opportunity to pick a small prize from a treasure chest or discovery box.
Awana Sunday & Grand Prix - The Service starts at 10:30 with a free hotdog lunch afterwards,
followed by the Grand Prix. In September each clubber is given a wooden block with
wheels and they work on building a Grand Prix race car (younger clubbers may need
parental help). The cars will race against each other to see which are the top 3
fastest as well as top three designs.
Car Building Rules
- Cars from previous years - NOT ALLOWED with every new race you must build a new car.
- Car Design - Clubbers must use the wheels, axles and wood supplied. Additional features like windshields, steering wheels, weights and decals may be added providing the car does not exceed 150 grams.
![]()
- Dimensions -the car must be 150 grams, the overall length must not exceed 17.8 cm and overall width must not exceed 7 cm.
- Numbering - Clubbers are given the opportunity to choose their number when they receive their car. The car number must appear somewhere on the car, but it can be on the bottom of the car.

- Handling on Race Day - As much as possible, the BUILDER of the car should be the only person that touches or picks it up. CLUBBERS are to place their own cars on the track prior to a race and to remove them after the race. If the starter notices that a car is not properly aligned prior to a race, he or she will call the clubber back to adjust it.
- Jumping the Track - If a car jumps the track during the race, the starter will begin the race over. If a car jumps the track 3 TIMES, that car will be eliminated. The race will then begin with the remaining cars.

- No Racing After the Grand Prix - Clubbers ARE NOT ALLOWED to race against each other after the event. If a non-trophy winning car defeats a trophy winning car, it could cause problems.
- Ideas for Cars - some good websites for design ideas are found at: Awana Grand Prix; Maximum Velocity; or google awana grand prix.
- During our Club year our church sets aside one Sunday service to highlight this ministry and provide opportunity for people to support it.
- The clubbers lead the worship time with the songs we sing during council time, the kids also do a memory recital, there's a childrens feature and also an overview of the club.
- Awards Night is the last offical club night where the kids are awarded their major awards: ribbons for completion of their 1st and 2nd books, plaques and trophies for the 3rd and 4th books.
