Contact (2006) Approximately one year after Void Ant's Self Titled album, we arrive at Contact. Unlike the first album, which was recorded during a very short period of time, Contact is the sum of various spontaneous recordings which accumulated over the course of the year. This album was completed in July of 2006. This time I sampled guitar sounds exclusively, leaving out the drum machine that can be heard on the first album. For the brief percussion, I tapped out a beat on my guitar. Contact is a concept album. The main idea is interaction. With sound I've tried to represent thoughts of human life, extraterrestrial life, and interaction between the two. Conversely, isolation plays a role, and there are references to childhood and nature. Miscellaneous notes: The title 'Mute Winter' was inspired by the Wintermute font used heavily in the visual design of this album, and occasionally on other Void Ant material. 'Memory' is a 40-second homage. It is reminiscent of jam sessions I used to have with my uncle, Gordie. He broadened my horizons, and influenced the way I think and feel about music. He passed away two years after this recording.
