Hi Tom and everyone at Homestead Organics.
This is Reid Allaway from Tourne-Sol co-operative farm writing to compliment and encourage what you're doing at Homestead Organics. I took advantage of a rainy day today to drive the hundred or so kilometers from our farm in Les Cèdres Québec to Berwick to pick up a seed order of various green manure seeds to help us get ready for another season of rotational cropping in our small market garden / CSA operation. First of all, I want to let you know how nice it is to be able to find such a diversity of green manure, legume and cereal seeds at reasonable prices from a single location and to know that our money spent on green manure seed is helping to support an operation like yours. Secondly I just wanted to let you know how impressed I was with the diversity of approaches Homestead Organics is pursuing to help the farmers and families of the whole region – not just providing a market for farm products and a wide array of seeds and other inputs for organic producers but also running a general store with food for local families and providing a wealth of information and literature about organic management practices, transition and other ideas destined to help local farmers and families learn more about growing and eating organically.
So I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with the many directions your operation is taking and encourage you to keep up the great work. The town of Berwick is lucky to have you and all the rest of us at a slightly greater distance are only a little jealous.
Thanks for the prompt and accurate filling of our seed order and for providing such a wealth of options to assist organic farmers like us. Here's hoping that the rain is less serious than predicted and that things dry up quickly afterwards.
