The Igloolik campus of the Nunavut Arctic College held their graduation ceremony last Thursday and 11 fine men and women received their degrees. Many family and friends were in the audience, and fantastic dinner at the local restaurant followed the event. The Nunavut extended care facility, newly constructed here in Igloolik, will open it’s doors in the coming weeks. Many of these recent graduates hope to land jobs at this new facility. Here’s to the future and good luck! The amount of time and energy that goes into the planning of this type of event is staggering. On Friday night Igloolik had it’s first ever Senior prom. The entire community was invited (with the exception of small children) and I was pleased to be hired as the photographer. One word describes my reaction after being there: WOW. I’m stunned at the amount of positive energy, laughter, excitement and dancing that graced the halls of AHS this Friday. I’m pleased to post a sample of my images from Igloolik’s first ever senior prom.

Click the photo to check out the postcards from our May 24 weekend barbeque at Avajja. Lots of snow and still pretty cold, but it was fun to get out. Thanks to Jamie and Marty for putting it together.

This photo shows my family (sans cat) and was taken in mid May on the sea ice near Igloolik. My wife Lily and I have been living in Igloolik since July 2006 and have tried our best to make the most of our time in the north.

Keep an eye out for updates to the site and thanks for looking.

- Steve
