[ Zacharie Cloutier Park ] [ A trip to the Côte de Beaupré ]

Sometime ago, the city of Beauport (near Quebec City) offered a site to l’Association des Cloutier d’Amérique to establish a commemorative park. There is no street number but the park is located, on the East, between numbers 123 and 131 Sylvie street and, on the West, between numbers 120 and 126 Diane street. There is no main entrance and the park is open to all. The plaque shown opposite is located near 131 Sylvie. Trees were planted to represent the Association and each one of its regional committees. |
On the plaque is inscribed:
IN MEMORY OF ZACHARIE CLOUTIER, MASTER CARPENTER,
XAINTE DUPONT AND THEIR FIVE CHILDREN WHO ARRIVED FROM
PERCHE IN 1634. THEY SETTLED ON THIS SITE,
ON LAND GRANTED BY SIEUR ROBERT GIFFARD,
TO WHICH THEY GAVE THE NAME OF "LA CLOUTERIE".
