ISAIAH CHAPTER 12
1
¶ And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though
thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou
comfortedst me.
2 Behold, God is my
salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my
strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
3 Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.

¶ And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name,
declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is
exalted.
5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
6 Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

And take heed to
yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with
surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
Untamed Thistles
This Lamplighter book conveys a powerful message, and while the
approach to it is very gentle, it is still an excellent tool for
instruction in self control. It is suitable for, but not limited
to, the young. The simple style and believable characters
of Untamed Thistles made it difficult to put down once I began to
read.
This wonderfully written story
makes our need for the Saviour so clear, showing the reader how
insufficient and temporary our own efforts are to overcome sin in our
lives, and shows plainly that even the very young need the atonement of
Christ to be saved.
Untamed Thistles also
introduces children to the sometimes dreadful and tragic consequences
of anger. It makes one realize that without the fear of God in
our hearts, we are all capable of causing harm when we are angry.

Getting Rich
Exposing only one of the many dangers of desiring wealth and being rich
and idle in this world, Getting Rich is a great way to introduce the
topic of finances with children who like the idea of having lots of
money.
It is only a beginning,
though, because most people think they can "handle" the wealth
they desire, but I am reminded of the words of Agur in Proverbs 30:8
& 9, where he prays "...give me neither poverty nor riches;...Lest
I be full, and deny thee,...or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the
name of my God in vain."
At the end of the story, which is very short, there are many scripture
references from Proverbs and Ecclesiastes concerning finances, but I
think there should be some from other books, too, such as Corinthians,
for example.
All in all, Getting Rich is excellent food for thought.
