GOLDEN
ARROW
Serial No. 35-16033 |
| The Golden Arrow is a favourite
among Cockshutt collectors due to the low numbers (approximately
135) produced. Designed as a promotional tractor, it featured the
rear end, transmission and hydraulic system from the 550, which was to
be the next Cockshutt model. However, the metal exterior was
that of the 35 Deluxe. It featured a Hercules engine and only gas models were available. In January, 1996, conversation with an area farmer revealed that he had an old Cockshutt tractor that he was interested in selling. Although well hidden by 'highway yellow' paint and a home made loader, it proved to be a Golden Arrow. |

The dealer's decal found under the top layer
of paint was that of Chapman Farm Equipment, Chatham, but the original
owner's name has not yet been discovered. The tractor was sold a
second time before the loader was welded to it.
Wayne worked on the Arrow during the spring and it was returned to its two toned 'red belly' colour scheme by the end of that summer. |
