Present sign designating COCKSHUTT PARK in the City of Brantford, Ontario

The Cockshutt Homecoming Festival - Brantford, Ontario - June 3, 4, 2000 - was a reunion of  company employees, Cockshutt family members,  collectors of Cockshutt equipment and memorabilia .... and anyone else with an interest in the COCKSHUTT PLOW COMPANY and related businesses.

Sunny weather set the mood for a truly unique event as visitors strolled through machinery displays and visited with friends, old and new.  Dignitaries formed a parade and were piped to the stage for the official opening ceremonies.  Those interested in visiting with former company employees headed to the CHAT TENT where the ladies of Farringdon Church - a congregation founded by early members of the Cockshutt family - served refreshments as stories and memories were exchanged.
Donna and Dennis Stewart cut the ribbon at the opening ceremonies.

Viewing the TREASURE HUNT collection in the school gym

Of great interest to collectors and history buffs were the memorabilia displays in the TREASURE HUNT room.  Old photos and items of value filled glass cases.  Included were some donated  items which were later auctioned off to the highest bidder.  A popular bus tour visited the old factory sites, former family homes and other Brantford sites of interest.

Vendor booths, shuttle rides (On wagons pulled by Cockshutt tractors, of course!), V.I.P. LUNCHEON and a COCKSHUTT FAMILY TEA,  were among other highlights of the day.  Those who had wisely ordered their tickets early enjoyed a chicken barbecue and a social time with entertainment closed off the evening.

Beautiful weather and the Homecoming Spirit continued on Sunday as the celebration moved to join in the festivities of FAMILY PICNIC DAY at GLENHYRST GARDENS, originally the home of E. L. Cockshutt.  A parade of red and yellow tractors left Cockshutt Park at 9:00 a.m., leading through city streets to the museum grounds.  Annual  Family Day activities and entertainment continued throughout the day to conclude a great commemoration of  all things Cockshutt in Brantford.
