Brantford Plant in 2000
A deserted building is
all that remains of
the former Cockshutt Plow Company head office. Located on Mohawk Street
in the city of Brantford, its shell and the surrounding empty factories
stand as a reminder of days when the finest of farm machinery
rolled
off of production lines to be sold world wide.
At the front, a cement
plaque high above
the street proudly proclaims the Cockshutt Company
name.
Another, over the front door, contains the word OFFICE while pillars on
either side of the steps contain the years 1877 and 1903. One
cannot
ignore the broken windows, however, and a closer look reveals the NO
TRESPASSING
sign now tacked over the doorway.
A small, one story building (right
side of the above picture)
is identified as the employee TIME OFFICE by this cement plaque.
