Plan to be a part of this
broad based Christian witness!
NEW CHURCH PHOTO DIRECTORY UPDATE
A special thanks to all those who participated in our 2002 Church Photo Directory. This directory of church members and the friends of the church will not be ready for some time yet. However the photos ordered are believed to be in the mail as we speak.
SMOKEY MOUNTAIN DESSERT THEATER
The singers and actors, under the direction of Betty Anne Taylor had a great time presenting the special Christmas production in December. They are now busy in preparation for the coming Easter Musical Theatre Performance. This fresh format of presenting the message of Jesus has been well received. Over 700 attended the Christmas one!
SUNDAY SCHOOL
New Adult elective classes have been introduced in our Sunday School. We believe Sunday School is more than a kids thing! It is a tool to reach the unsaved, be it children or adults. As we disciple adults, we will have a stronger base to reach our community for Christ. Join us for a refreshing time of growth.
AWARD WINNING SOLOIST VISITS INNISFIL!
Marlene O'Neil was the feature guest at Innisfil Church on Sunday, January 20. Marlene has been a long time singer and has been an inspiration to many.
Formerly she sang with her mother in what was known as "The Elliot Family" gospel music group.
Her ministry was very well received and we look forward to having her back with us in the future.
MAJOR CHURCH EXODUS!
At least that what it seemed like! On the weekend of January 13, approximately 40 from Innisfil Community Church migrated to the U.S.A. - (Detroit!) to celebrate the wedding of Simon Pereira to Sherri Roman. Pastor Head remained to care for the church services. The word got back to us that Pastor Craig preached an outstanding message on the Baptism of The Holy Ghost!
PRECEPT BIBLE STUDIES UNDER WAY
Another series of Kay Arthur's Precept Bible Studies is now in progress. Under the good leadership of Jessica Pereira, the Bible Study is held in the sanctuary of the church on Wednesday evenings.
ANNUAL MEETING REPORTS
The reports for this year's annual business meeting for Innisfil Community Church are now ready for those wishing to observe the activities of the church for the past year. A full account of finances is included. This year we have seen some good growth in a variety of areas. If you haven't yet got a copy and wish to have one, please call the office.
MEN'S MINISTRY BREAKFAST
The Men's Ministries continues to host monthly breakfasts at the church. Last month, Gerry French was the guest speaker.
A FIFTIETH BIRTHDAY FOR PAT!
One of our newer folk, Pat Lucknow (grandpa in the Christmas drama!) Just celebrated his 50th birthday. Up and over the hill, so they say!!!
PLUMBER BUSY!
Recently we had to call on our resident plumber again. Rod Emberley, a plumber by trade, was called in to repair one of our septic pumps. Since we do not have municipal sewers here, we are faced with the ongoing repair and maintenance to our own septic system. Thanks Rod for your help!
WORD FROM THE WILKESES*
A recent E-Mail from the Wilkes indicated that they miss the Innisfil Church family but are settling in down east. It's always great to hear from those who have been a special part of our church family over the years.
EYE SURGERY FOR SEVERAL
Seems strange, but many eyes have been seeing surgery! Delores Weston had special surgery on her eyes before leaving for Florida. The surgery was successful as we understand, preventing further deterioration. Gerry French recently had surgery for cataracts and Wilf Sharpe also was in the hospital for eye surgery.
ONE OF OUR MISSIONARIES IN R.V.H.
Rev. Paul Shellart, father of Dr. Darlene Bilawski, recently underwent surgery at the Barrie hospital. He has since been discharged and returned to his home in the London area.
CLASSIC SUNDAY NIGHT
On the second Sunday night monthly, we are planning to hold a "Classic Sunday Night". Classic car shows display the older models of autos. Classic Sunday Nights will be a time to sing the old hymns and choruses. NONE of the newer songs will be used. Our first Classic Sunday Night was held on January 6 and it was a fun night for those present. It's oldies and goldies time! You can be a part.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PARSONSES!*
A new baby boy has arrived in the home of Pastor Dwane and Chantal Parsons. On January 15 at 6:16 a.m., weighing seven pounds and nine ounces, Micah Parsons made his first dèbut!
Congratulations on your FOURTH child!
TEHILLAH NORTH GOES TUBING!
On Monday, January 21 the Tehillah North young adult group partnered with Life 100.3 for an evening of tubing at Snow Valley. It was a sell-out evening and the band played a couple sets during the night. One of the ski lifts broke down and caused some delays but those who left early were awarded free passes for future dates. All in all, everyone seemed to have a stellar time!
CHURCH FAMILY SKATE
On New Year's Eve Pastor Head coordinated a very successful church family skate at the Stroud Recreation Complex. Around one hundred church folk, adults and children, enjoyed the hour long fellowship on ice. Several families opened their homes following to host a time of celebration to welcome in the New Year.
AN ENGAGEMENT -CONGRATULATIONS!
We have been informed that Lori Emberley has plans to be married... and that she has found her man! We've seen the ring to prove it. They are planning to be married this summer. Congratulations Lori!
USED CLOTHING VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
YES... WE STILL NEED HELP! And lots of it! In recent weeks there has been a major build up of used clothing to be sorted for our Emergency Relief and Development Overseas program. New volunteers are always welcome and can contact the office to assist. The office can be reached at 436-1611.
UPDATE ON CHURCH FACELIFT
It is taking longer than we expected, but the face-lift continues! We have added a "Coffee Bar" in the vestibule serving Tim Horton's Coffee.
The sanctuary painting completion has been set for Easter. (That comes early this year!)
The biggest part seems to be the painting of the ceiling. It will likely be sprayed and is a fairly laborious job.
CONGRATULATIONS GILLIAN CLAIR
Late news has leaked through that Gillian Clair was awarded as the student with the highest honours among the graduating students at her Humber College graduation last year. We are proud of you, Gillian!
* "PARSONSES" and "WILKESES" -It's strange. The rule according to Webster's dictionary, 1988 is that when a noun ends with an "s" it is pluralized by adding "es". The apostrophe is used to show a possession or when a word, a letter, or numerals are omitted.
