Marriage is a sacred institution and the basis of human society. The Bible defines marriage as the union of one man and one woman in a lifetime commitment mutually exclusive to each other. It is to be entered only after careful consideration and must be held in high honour. The marriage vows are of all, most solemn. They constitute vows not only between a man and a woman in the presence of witnesses, but vows made before God the Creator and Giver of Life. God instituted marriage when he said "for this cause shall a man leave his mother and father, and shall cleave (for life) unto his wife, and the two shall be one. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder". It is with this understanding that we perform the marriage ceremony.
