PTO - Ech,- Later Thomas had a boot shoe and leather goods business in Deptford. Matty was very critical of sister Martha for "spoiling the people", she employed by giving them the same meals as the family. She was fond of music. Six of her family seem to have died between 1895 and 1904.

Matilda Wates, 1843 (Roberts) had a good singing voice like her grandmother Jemima Ambrose and her great aunt Rebecca Strang. Matilda was contralto.

Occupation on Marriage Certificate (July 7, 1906) for Margaret Ellen and George Frederick Roberts is 'Gas Fitter' and he is listed as deceased. The 1881 & 1891 Census show their address as 50 Slippers Pl. Rotherhithe, Surrey.

22. Samuel Mills

Living in Roxborough Township at the time of the 1901 Census.

The 1851 Census lists his age as 14 although his age in 1851 based on his birth date in the 1901 Census should be 10.

23. Barbara Stephenson

On the marriage registration, Barbara's parents' names were not written.

24. Roderick M. McLennan

Little has been learned of Roderick McLennan to date. The spelling is also not clear. In an obituary for his son, John Michael, it was spelt 'Rodderick' although the common spelling both within the family and in other's is 'Roderick'. This is likely a printing error in the newspaper. The last name also shows up with different spellings. On the 1871 Ontario Census, it is spelt 'McClennan' but is 'McLennan' on the 1851 and 1861 Census.

He and Sophia with newborn daughter Lucinda were living in Cornwall in 1851 in the property adjacent to William Mitlemore (56), carpenter. Roderick's birthplace is listed as Upper Canada and his occupation was shoemaker. It states his age as at his next birthday will be 28 making his birthdate in 1823 which is inconsistent with the other sources.

According to the 1871 Census, the family was living on the property of Josiah Baldwin and wife, Margaret, in the Township of Matilda. Roderick lists his occupation as shoemaker and his eldest son, William (age 19) as a "W. Spinner", possibly weaver/spinner.

The baptismal records for Roderick's children list his occupation as 'shoemaker'. His burial record with the Anglican Diocese in Ottawa lists his occupation as 'grocer'.

On January 16, 1883, Sophia filed an Affidavit with the Surrogate Court of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry for rights to the Estate of Roderick McLennan (valued at $400) in that he died without a Will. The Affadavit states he died leaving as his heirs, his wife, four sons and one daughter. There is also an Affidavit noting that Roderick McLennan owed Jacob Pringle $800 at the time of his death and it was required that William and John sign that they would be jointly and severally liable for any debts arising and that they were worth at least $500.

25. Sophia Margaret Miltimore

According to the 1901 Census, Sophia was born in New York and immigrated to Canada in 1834. At the time of the census, she was living with her son, John Michael McLennan in Cornwall.

The 1851 Census has the family in Cornwall and her age as 28 at her next birthday. She is listed on the same line as her first daughter, Lucinda, born in 1851.
