About the Artist
My entire formal education took place at MacDonald Campus, Ste
Anne de Bellevue, QC. Since then I have lived in Quebec City,
Toronto, Hudson, Vancouver Island and now here near Vankleek
Hill. My earliest experience of art as a special activity was
the Saturday morning classes with Miss Elizabeth Jaques. I was
six.
The rest of my art education
continued over the years in an unplanned casual manner. Along
the way I was lucky enough to have studied with Gino Lorcini,
who taught me the importance of negative space, and with Lesley
Coppold, whose mantra was " I can't teach you how to paint
but I can teach you how to see." These lessons I try to
pass along to my own students.
When I visit someone's home
I first look at what is hanging on their walls to find out what
is important to the owners. A painting is a bit of captured time,
slightly or completely abstracted by the artist. The subject
matter is less important
than the manner of its expression.
