Examples of Good Web Design

When searching for examples of good web design we need to take more into account than just the way the website looks. Whilst the design of the site is an important aspect is only a small part of a successful website. Web design principles take into account the whole concept which includes:

• The look and feel of the site
• The target market
• The tone of the content
• The structure and ease of navigation
• The speed at which it loads

and most importantly

• how it ranks with the search engines such as Google or Yahoo

Many people are disappointed when they pay to get a website designed as often the site looks great but it gets little to no traffic. This is because most website users will use a search engine such as Google when they are seeking information or a service. When the search engine returns the results for that search term the majority of users will only look at the first three pages of results. If your website does not appear on those first three pages then your website is not going to be found.

There are ways around this. You could spend a small fortune on advertising your website but that will only reach a small percentage of users. You could pay another small fortune to an SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) but that also often has limited results. Alternatively you could implement a strategy when designing your website that puts you right in the top rankings and that is exactly what the following companies did.
