What is Behavioural Consultation?
The Behavioural consultant examines the patterns of interaction between the child and the family/caregiver(s). From this, behavioural difficulties and patterns are identified.
Customized programs are then developed to overcome these difficulties thereby creating a positive, motivating environment for everyone involved.
The success of these behavioural programs result in elimination or reduction of undesired behaviours, improved communication, reduced stress, and greater family harmony.
The Deaf Kids Clinic provides behavioural consultation for deaf and hard of hearing children with the following behavioural issues: hard-to-serve, oppositional, multi-challenged, under motivated and autistic. Communication style matches the preference and strength of the child including spoken English, American Sign Language, Signed English and those with delayed or absent language.
