It has been a while....We have all been very busy. The Christmas season was nuts, our kennel was full
but
we managed to keep everyone happy. We had dogs all the way from Edmonton. We have had 2
blizzards
in the last 3 weeks, colder then -50 C weather and lots of snow drifts to move.
Last weekend we were in Calgary for the winter AKC show. Sara had her first show and I was very
impressed on how she did, no wins but she enjoyed being in the ring.
Amy, as usual, hated the 1st day, had one her best ever shows the second day (and came in dead
last) ....the 3rd day she got Best of Opposite for 2 points....1 more and she will have her
championship.
Joy showed well all weekend but no points, she got reserve female the last day.
Talon enterd junior showmanship for the first time too. They would not let him use Sara (they said she
was to big for him) he was disappointed after all his practicing. He entered with a beagle named
Duke, which was lent to him from a very nice lady (Rita O'Halloran of Windyhill Beagles) They both did
awseome! Talon took home the biggest ribbon for the 2nd time in a row, out of our "group". Rita does
have puppies available, email me if you are interested and I can put you in touch with her.
Brass, Sara's brother took Breed all three days. Ann and Mike have done a great job with their
puppies!
It was great to see all our friends again! Chantel, Yves, Lyn, Jen, and us all stayed at the same hotel.
We
also got to see Ann and Mike and their wolfies.....Greg and Lexi and their Borzoi's ( Talon's highlite of
the
show ....we thought his highlite would be showing but he would rather be in the crate with Ivor)
Talon probably spent 3/4 hour in the crate with Ivor (the Borzoi) playing and feeding him treats. Thank
you
so much Lexi!!! In a perfect world, all show dogs should be like Ivor. He has won multiple awards, is
invited to Crufts in England ( Crufts is the most prestegious show in the world and probably the
biggest
show too) and yet enjoys playing with kids....can't get better then that! Talon's goal (and mine) is to get
a
Borzoi puppy.
After getting back, Tuesday was the day we picked up our new Newfoundland puppy, Gabbi. She
comes
from Dr. Shawn Haas of Rosethorn Newfoundlands in North Battleford. Gabbi is a high energy Newfie
who likes to make a lot of noise. Amy is not impressed with her and runs away, Joy doesn't seem to
care
a whole lot one way or the other, and Sara likes her, maybe too much, as she is not quite ready for the
rough and tumble games yet.
Sorry for all the spelling mistakes but my proof reader is not out of bed yet.....
Our congratulations go to Ann Brockett. She took her 7 month old puppy, Windseeker's Maestro
(aka Brass * Sara's Brother*) to the Calgary Kennel and Obedience Club conformation show
and won the following:

__________
3 Best of Breed
3 Best Puppy in Breed
3 Best Puppy in Group
2 Best Puppy in Show
1 Group 1st
1 Group 2nd
We are both very happy for Ann and Mike, we know all the hard work and love they put into their wolfies!
We just wish we could have been there to watch it all happen!

I guess, if your reading this, you can see I have, yet again, made a new web page. Dot even helped,
writing the "about us" bit. This web page should be easier to navigate for users and easier for me to
update. The search still continues for a better photo page maker, the one I'm using now is ok but is
not fun to update......

We are getting ready for the Camrose show next weekend. Should be fun. Not fun is getting the trailer
ready after sitting all winter. Looking forward to seeing all our friends again too!

Both of us can't wait to see Mary-Jo's pictures of the Crufts Dog Show next weekend...and catching
up on all the "news" from over the winter.

It is looking like no kids for us at this show but not quite sure. Dot told Talon, that the Easter Bunny
doesn't go to dog shows. He really wants to go and is looking for a way to let the Easter Bunny know
he is going to be at the show and to be sure to hide some eggs there too.

Talon has BIG news....his wish is coming true

Somehow, we made it back from the Camrose dog show. There was some horrid weather on the way
home. Just over and hour to go 21 miles.

It was not the weekend for our Wolfhounds. I was very happy with how Sara was in the ring, she improved
every day, just too small compared with the others....It will come. This was Amy's best weekend for stacking
for the judges, not as shy anymore. Just not what the judges were looking for this weekend.

Joy started off slow the first day, came in reserve Sunday, and won winners bitch Monday. Our point streak
stayed alive.

Talon got to come along this weekend and he had a BIG weekend! He got his new puppy "Desa"
Talon also entered Junior handling (PeeWee) with a whippet of Greg and Lexi's (Tovaritch Kennel). They
did very well. He was a little surprised when the whippet decided to stop while running and take a dump.
Sunday evening, Greg and Lexi asked Talon to show Ivor in the regular show. So it was a quick trip to
Walmart to buy some show clothes. Talon did well for the first "real" time in the ring. He was a little freaked
out just before going in. The judge was great with him (Carmen Haller). So he had a great first experience.
He was competing against Greg with another borzoi. Talon forgot a few things when he went in the ring (like
running) after a little prompting he speeded up and did fine. In the end Talon and Ivor won.
On the way home, the Talon Ivor show, was retold many times.....each time getting better. Each one ended
the same, " I can't believe I beat Greg"

It was great to meet all our friends again. It is always too long between our visits. Mary-Jo came for coffee,
which we had been missing. We got to see some vidio from crufts, Nice! Dinners, suppers, and snacks
togther with friends was great. (Greg is a great cook)

It was quite the weekend in Battleford! On Friday, Amy finished her Canadian Championship by taking
Best of Breed. Saturday, Amy won Best of Opposite, Talon competed in peewee jr. handling, Jordyn won
her class and Nichelle came in 2nd in her class with Sara. Talon and Jordyn both used Chubby, a
Norbottenspets. Thanks Rebeca! (rnbkennels.com )

Sunday, Joy did her usual thing and won Best of Opposite sex for one point. Only 2 more to go.
Sara had the big win though, beating Amy and Titan ( a nice 26 month old male ) for Best of Breed, Best of
Winners, and Best Puppy. So she now has her major.
Gabi's breeder, Dr. Shawn Haas, had his special entered and won Best in Show! It was a great weekend

Last weekend, we were at the Saskatoon show. Sara was entered 2 days and Joy on Sunday. I was to
be
seeding but with all the snow and rain in the last few weeks I was able to go. On Friday, around 5pm we
decided to take the trailer instead of driving each day. It was hurry, hurry, trying to get ready and get to
S'toon before dark....didn't happen and we forgot a lot of stuff, including the camera....and Dot's show
stuff list.

On Sat, Sara won best puppy and BOS, getting 2 prizes for the sight hound booster. (poop bags and
milk bones) Sunday she got the same placings again. Joy's competition was a no show, so no points for
her either. The kids all did well in Jr. handling. Nichelle used Joy this time....she said Joy would move
better for her then Dot....Not.

Amy, by far enjoyed this show the most of all the one's she has gone to....she was not entered. She would
rather stay with the kids. Both puppies had fun. Desa had lots of compliments on how social and out
going she was....she loves everyone. We had fun with friends and met some more new ones too.

Our next show will be in Edmonton at the end of the month (NACA). An outside show which was great last
year. Hopefully we will be done seeding! This will be Gabi's 1st show. Sounds like lots of Newfies and
Wolfhounds are entered. Can't wait....

Congrats to MJ Kirk, her Irish Wolfhound was #4 in all of Canada last year, with limited showing. There is
a link to her site on the link page. (Mistyglen)

With seeding wrapped up, we were able to go to NACA in Edmonton, last weekend. Nichelle stayed
home
(with mom) to keep the boarding kennel open and she did a good job.
This was Gabi's first show and she did very well in the ring. Dot showed her the 1st two days and in
sweeps. They made the cut in sweeps (out of 19 dogs) but did not place.
The 3rd day, Gabi was handled by Jayele Ball and the last day by me.
Joy also showed very well, taking reserve twice. The last day it took the judge forever to make up his
mind...so close to finishing her championship.....Try again at the AKC in Calgary.
Sara won her class one day. She handled very well. Ann Brockett ( her Breeder) handled her in sweeps
and did great. It was nice to see my girl in the ring with someone else. She moved nice and behaved
well.
Sara also got to go in jr. handling with a young lady. The jr. show secretary was worried a wolfhound was
to
big to handle but she was a perfect angel in the ring.
The weekend was also spent with friends. A barbeque at Ann's and our site. (we were invaded by newfie
owners) There must have been around 20 people. It was great to catch up with all our friends. Besides
all
the visiting, walking the dogs with different friends was fun too. Desa was being a ham most of the time,
bouncing all over, always looking for new friends.

We are back from our Summer Holiday / Dog Shows. It was a great time meeting new friends and
catching up with old friends.
We started off going to Swift Current for 6 shows in three days. We only had Gabi and Sara entered but
we also groomed and showed a big Newfie (Landseer) male, named Hunter. Hunter had never been
show groomed or been entered in a show....he did not enjoy the grooming. A couple minutes before he
was to go in the ring Dot told me I was going to show him. So with very little practice off we went. He did
pretty good until the judge went to check his privates. He promptly sat down, but she informed me, while
laughing, that she had found them. We ended up winning Best of Breed. A little later we went in for group
and managed to make the cut, only she had only picked four dogs. We won the group 4th placement.
I showed Hunter again that afternoon but didn't get anything. Dot showed him for the rest of the weekend
and they also got another Group 4th placement. Hunter ended up with 12 points on the weekend and his
Canadian Championship.

The rest of the show was not so kind to us. Sara was the only wolfhound entered, so no points. Gabi did
fairly well and got some ring experience. The kids all went in jr. handling and they all won prizes.
We camped with Rebecca, Lisa and Deb. It was a fun time but hot. The kids found water pistols, so they
were all soaked. (We also spent a few hours at the laundromat). On Monday we drove out to Jane
Unteriner's kennel and got to see 15 newfies. That was a treat. We then drove to Strathmore and stayed
in a little campground for the night. It was a nice little place. The kids and the dogs enjoyed it. Tuesday we
drove to Greg and Lexi's, just out of Airdrie. We stayed with them for a couple of nights. They were the
best hosts ever! The kids really liked all the dogs (each with their favorite) they also are still talking about
the hot tub....

We were off to the show Thursday about noon. Mary-Jo met up with us and we all followed Greg to the
show site. We took the back way in, avoiding lots of traffic. This way had lots of hills and some where
along the way our trailer plug came unhooked. So no tail lights and no trailer brakes. MJ phoned and let
us know about the lights but to try to find a place to pull over was not easy. Just before we got to the #1
hi-way, we found a spot. By the time we finally got stopped, the old Dodge brakes were smoking (Dot
thought we were on fire) I jumped out and fixed the plug....no more problems.
At this show, we had all our dogs entered, some twice a day.....and some of the time we had 2 different
breeds in different rings at the same time....so the newfies ended up being left out of the pictures and
some poor lady who was just a spectator ended up showing one of our newfies, when Dot was at the ring
by herself with two dogs. Dot and Nichelle showed Newfies the 1st day, Dot and "some Lady" the 2nd.
On the last two I was able to help Dot. Gabi ended up beating Joy twice, but no points for either Newf.
Both wolfhounds showed nice but didn't get any where either. Sara has to mature more before she goes
back in the ring again. Amy did quite well, even under the male judges but didn't have quite enough to
place.
The Borzoi......it was nuts. It was great!
The first day was Desa's 6 month birthday (your dog has to be 6 months old to compete) We were
thinking about letting Talon show her....until we saw the two of them in jr.handling. The 1st time for Desa in
the ring was with Talon at jr. handling. Desa and Talon both had a great time. Talon, proudly showing off
"his" puppy in the ring, Desa, chewing the leash, jumping at Talon's number, and checking out all the
other dogs.

My 1st time in the ring with Desa went ok, no winning but we didn't fall down either....the second day I did
go down. I lost the leash somehow and tried to stop quickly. One foot kept sliding and I ended up on one
knee. the leash had ended up stuck on Desa's rear foot, so she didn't run away. I got the leash and
looked up, here is Lexi and her puppy Dar'ya. They came back to make sure everything was ok.....didn't
win that day... but the judge did tell me I had a good recovery.
Talon showed Desa in the National Borzoi sweeps and did a really good job. He got a big ribbon, big
bag, dog treats and won $3.60. He was quite happy.
Desa improved everytime she went in the ring and the last day she won Best Puppy in Breed.
Desa's Sire, Ivor had an awesome weekend. Winning Best of Breed in the Borzoi Nationals and Best of
Breed in all but one other show he was entered in. He had multiple group wins and won the best in
Specialty too. He is now the #1 Borzoi in all of Canada!!! Congrats to Greg and Lexi!
I also got to show Dar'ya and Ro. I think I showed 8 different dogs over our little holiday.
I also haven't run that much since high school. I believe most of us were quite stiff and hurting.(other then
the kids)

We camped with MJ and Sabrina. Got to see Ann, Mike and Noah. It was a little to hectic to get much
visiting in but we managed to get some in.

Amy is now in the OFA data base....her hips were graded as excellent!
We are planning for a litter of puppies around Christmas time. We are really looking forward to
this litter and believe it will be a great combination. We are now taking applications for puppies.

We did get to one show this fall. We only had Desa and Gabi entered. Desa injured a toe just before the
show, so she did not compete. Gabi improved every day and on the last day, she took winners reserve.
I got to show "Jack" of Titan's Bear Kennel. (A Newfie) The last day we got a Best of Breed for a major.
Chantel and Yve's Enya got two, 2 point majors....YEAH!!!

Ann Brockett had a good last day too. Flash, Desa's brother, went Best of winners and best Puppy
Lexi got Ivor a group placement and they also won the costume parade!

We had a great weekend catching up with all our friends!!!

Yesterday, we completed all of Amy's health checks. All these tests were done at the University of
Saskatchewan. Her eyes are normal / normal (CERF) Her heart is normal. Her hips are excellent ( the
one doctor said they could not be better) All the people helping with the x-rays were awesome! She did
not even need sedation!

Dot, Joy and myself were asked to participate in our Legion's Remembrance Day Ceremony. We were
honoured to do so. We told the story of Gander, a Newfoundland who was with a Canadian company
during World War 2. After the ceremony we all went for lunch at the Legion hall and had a great time. Joy
got a lot of treats from the Legion members.

It has been crazy busy around here. Amy is pregnant and due Jan 8, 09. In late November, I found myself
traveling to Poland to pick up a puppy... Click here for that story.
